Crop Diversity for Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation Contributing to Resilient & Nature Positive Futures for Farmers Globally

FFAR’s AgMission™ Director Allison Thomson will be speaking on a panel, Crop Diversity for Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation Contributing to Resilient & Nature Positive Futures for Farmers Globally, at the 28th Annual U.N. Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28).

This panel, hosted by CGIAR, will show the power of crop genetic diversity to serve as a cost-effective strategy for enhancing climate resilience for food production globally across a range of species contributing to diversified diets. The panel will specifically discuss roots and tubers, cereals, legumes and underutilized crops, highlighting how these crops:

1. Thrive in diverse environmental conditions;
2. Provide reliable sources of nutrition; and
3. Offer income stability in the face of climate change.

FFAR is attending COP28 to highlight the urgent need for pioneering research to help the agriculture sector cope with climate change impacts. FFAR’s public-private partnership model is funding some of this critical research through the Fast Tracking Climate Solutions from CGIAR Genebank Collections initiative.
